Sunday. I love a sunny Sunday and today is...filled with sunshine.

I’m sitting in it now, on the front porch in the blue chair, facing West.

It’s unseasonably chilly, but I have my delightfully soft gray and white, furry blanket that Don gave me for Christmas.

My my blanket is draped across my lap, the sunrays trickle through my eyelashes, my crude Old Fashioned sits between my curled up legs, and I’ve just set down my book, Nine Perfect Strangers. My “Diff”’sunglasses are tucked in the neckline of my sweater.

These sunglasses are are pretty cool. They’re the ones that I got during a BOGO sale. I wouldn’t have bought them otherwise, I don't think. They’re a very different look for me...thick black rims and frames, round, yellow-mirrored lenses...cool, nonetheless.

The kids and Don complimented me on them when we took our family beach trip. I’ll have to say I was surprised...but in a wonderful, feel-good way. I wore them most of the week because those close to me liked them, and I knew they weren’t just saying so.

Back to the sunny Sunday porch...Don poured a dram of Red Roses Whiskey earlier, and it just looked good. So, I followed suit.

I got down the cube-shaped glass from the butler's pantry, opened the freezer and got a perfectly fitting cube of “large format ice,” plopped it in my glass and asked Siri to pull up a recipe for an old fashioned. She did...

Didn’t have any bitters. I don’t ever think to buy those. “Siri! How do you make bitters?“ Siri, “Here’s what I found on the internet to make you a better person.“ Ugh. I said “bitter” not “better!”

Well, making my own bitters is a few steps more complicated than asking Siri for a recipe. So, I improvised...

Whiskey glass with large format ice...Added a sliver of orange peel from an orange slice I found in the fridge, used my zester to add...well...zest, of course. Then I was stumped until I turned around and saw the Tupelo Honey that I got at Lake Oconee Food and Wine weekend. Took a tiny spoon, dipped it in the sticky, but mouth-exploding yummy honey and put a big dollop of it on top of the ice cube. Next came the Four Roses...

pretty good

Good enough

{maybe better bitters than I thought},

And who wouldn’t want

Better bitters

on a Sunday

sitting in the sunshine?
