Chasing Rainbows

How much do the "little things" really matter?
Stopping to smell the roses, so to speak?
Turning around, retracing your steps and taking a second look at something you hurriedly passed by?
Seeking out something that brings joy on an ordinary, perhaps mundane, day?
What shines in the sunlight?
What glows under the moonbeams?
Is something new popping its head above ground in salute to Spring?
How about that person who still won't smile when smiled at repeatedly?
A little time for self?
stretching
exercising
taking a bath
going on a walk
sitting in the sunshine
Someone who extended kindness today?

I'm thinking and pondering over these "little"...not so little...things that are actually difference makers in a day. As is often said, "The little things add up."
It's true. The little things do add up, but which ones am I adding...the ones that spark joy or the ones that freeze me in my tracks.
I'm shooting for the moon on this one...not ignoring the everyday challenges of life; those have to be faced; but also, not allowing myself to wallow in the deep end when I could be chasing the rainbows.
