Creative Muscle

One of the thought processes around creative writing is to write when inspired.
If you have to think too hard about your content,
then it might not be time to compose anything at all.
Through the practice of morning pages,
I have found that even before I sit down to blog,
a spark of imagination lights up
prompts begin to flow
and before I know it, I've written 2-3000 words
It's the whole idea around "flexing the creative muscle".
the more you use your gift,
the more growth you experience
and creativity naturally occurs
The philosophy is proving to be true.
I've also found a style of writing that I like...
how I fashion the sentences on the page
they are poetic in form but not always a poem or prose
I like staggering words and phrases for emphasis
it's visually stimulating
perhaps more engaging
{it flows}
Another discovery
is the importance of refraining from editing while writing
I edit a lot.
editing while composing hinders the creative process
Altering sentence structure, phrases, thoughts after I've written,
tends to take less time and cause less interruption to creative flow
{save the correction of spelling errors, typos, sentence edits for last}
When the content is composed, then go back and punch it up
be wary of the inner censor
who wants to clip content,
enforce perfection
or altogether impede the process of finishing at all

I'm learning a lot through process and practice
Morning pages
The Artist's Way
Daily Blogging
each is propelling me forward toward new creative thinking
locked doors are opening
paths are clearing
I'm getting my mojo back!
