Dream Catcher

Dreams are made of
whispers
nudges
a tap on the shoulder
Dreams are made of
gold
silver
a gem worn on the finger
Dreams are telling
Not to be ignored
What's the rhythm?
What's the rhyme?
what's the underlying story?
Do you have a dream journal?
I've written about my dreams
Replayed them
Relayed them
daydreams
nightmares
the ones that obscure reality
the absurd
hilarious
embarrassing
symbolic
I don't always remember my dreams
I do recall specific characteristics, though
a recurring dream from my childhood where I'm falling off a cliff
falling, falling, falling
until thud, I wake on the floor
{I can still feel my heart in my throat}
a nightmarish inducement of sleep paralysis
that occurs between dreaming and waking
I'm frozen, unable to roll over or move a limb
immobile and frightened
in a state of panic
I hate this provocation
I'm so helpless
voiceless
screaming inaudible cries
My favorite dreams are of water
the salted, turquoise sea
a topazed, brilliant lake in the Alps
the rushing, gurgling of a Colorado river
these dreams are fun and refreshing
the ones I wish were true upon waking
Are dreams anomalies?
truth-tellers?
soothsayers?
Do dreams hold keys to doors?
answers to mysteries?
Dreams, whether by day
by night
or conscious aspiration
are worth acknowledging
exploring
Let's not forget...
though we dream in riddles at midnight and nonsense at dawn,
the dream that should catch our utmost attention
is the vision we have for ourselves, for our life
Dream a dream
into fruition
