Be a Light

Recently, I watched Oprah’s, “Super Soul Sunday.” Her featured guest was Fr. Richard Rohr, a favorite of mine.

Rohr is an advocate for experiencing God everywhere and in everything. Nothing is excluded. Everything is a reflection of the image of God as it was created by him.

In his interview with Oprah, and in his new book, The Universal Christ, Rohr describes the importance and significance of light and sheds, if you will, light on a new way of seeing.

He says,

“Anything exposed by the light will be illuminated and anything illuminated turns into light…. Remember, light is not so much what you directly see as that by which you see everything else.”

You and I can see what is in front of us if there is light. In the pitch dark, though, there is no illumination and no source by which to see anything; however, light itself isn't the object that's in our sight line.

Instead, we see what's in our path because light gives us a new way to see through a lens of darkness.

Be in the light. Be a Light.
